Home Learning

Every day counts at Onepoto School. Home learning is an opportunity for students to practice their knowledge and skills they have already explored at school.

JUNIOR SCHOOL – NE/Y1 – Year 3

Students in the Junior School are provided with some Home Learning activities each day. This might be a school reader or Poem book. Sometimes Maths activities might be provided. Teachers will advise parents and whanau what Home Learning looks like in their hapori.

*BETTER START LITERACY – BSLA

Here is the link to the BSLA website for parents and whanau to support their children’s reading.

Better Start Literacy Approach website has a number of decodable readers that are available for families to use at home on a device. These readers are best suited to children in Years 0-3.

 

SENIOR SCHOOL – Years 4 – 6

Students in the Senior School are provided with some Home Learning activities online. Teachers will advise parents and whanau what Home Learning looks like in their hapori.

Online Home Learning Support

There are times when students are absent for longer periods of time, due to illness, whanau committments or unforseen circumstances. If this happens students can access Distance Learning activities online. This is a link set up to support tamariki at home.

Communication is important during these times. If your child is away from school, you must contact the school office on (09) 480 7469. Letting us know in advance will help us to support you.

On the odd occassion that the school has to close, we will communicate with you using this website or the school facebook page. Whanau will also be contacted by email or phone.
